#clmooc

I am a little lost.  Wanting to dive into this online "making" community but cannot even figure out how to create a blog. My 3 month old and 2 and a half year old are blissfully napping but will awaken at any moment and I do not think I have this figured out at all.  I am Kathleen, a kindergarten teacher who stepped out of the classroom in March to have my baby girl and will step back this coming September.  I titled this blog "Catching My Breath" for a few reasons.  I love the Kelly Clarkson song and feel like it really sums up how I feel about education lately- "I won't be told what's supposed to be right."  I feel like so much of our professional expertise and intuition is being pushed aside and we are being told how to teach, when to teach, what to teach, and no one is better for it.  I also am employing "Catching My Breath" because as a working mom with 2 very small children, I am finding it harder and harder to do so......laundry and dishes seem to eat up so much of my time! When I have a precious half an hour to myself, there is so much to do I don't know where to start! Hoping this summer experience with the NWP will help me tap into my passion for creating, for teaching and for connecting with other educators.

  1. It is great to have you writing and thinking and sharing .... all with a theme song, too. I know you asked, Am I doing this (Mooc) right? Yes. Our goal is to design activities that you join when you, connect when it makes sense, and reflect when you have time. Thanks for diving in.

  3. This is beautiful -- actually, I think it's a wonderful first post to set up a blog. I think a blog can be like that...a place to catch one's breath. And with all the little ones around, having a place that is just you may become really important to you.

I need to go listen to that Kelly Clarkson song....

  4. There is no right or wrong. The fact that you already have 4 comments on your writing about this MOOC speaks volumes to the power of blogging. Kudos to you for taking a chance.
